St. Patrick in London

Hi,
I manage to book few days in London for St. Patrick.
I’ll be there from 15 to 18 of march.

Any advice on flute related stuff to do/see/play/etc ??
irish music events alert will be appreciated as well!

Hello, Michael Flatley’s " Lord Of The Dance:Dangerous Games," is on at The Dominion Theatre London from 13th. March.
He’s announced his retirement for later this year. Irish Music & Dance at it’s best. Link below

In my experience St. Patricks day isn’t that great in London for ITM

It’s a shame that on Friday there are two good flute players on at the Musical Traditions Club

On Tuesday Artisan Row are at The Nightjar there’s a flute player with them - sorry just seen it’s fully booked

Friday 13th March – Fintan and Sheena Vallely at Musical Traditions Club
Tuesday 17th March – Artisan Row at The Nightjar

Have a look here for London sessions but worth checking on venues first.

Orlaith McAuliffe and her band CrossHarbour will again be at the St. Patrick’s Day Celebrations in Trafalgar Square for this year. Sunday the 15th.

No, no, no, no, no, no, no - Lord of the Dance is NOT Irish music and dance at its best.

EDITED to correct grammar. Thank you

And to keep our grammar moderator Ben mollified, it’s not “it’s”. :stuck_out_tongue:

Mollify Ben? There’s a futile quest!

Francesco, try contacting Orlaith (FB) - she’ll know, apart from her Crossharbour gig.

Oh! O.K. Irish Music & Dance at its most spectacular and popular ( How long has Mr. Flatley been touring the globe with this format ?) He’d probably go another 20 years if he could only stop the clock or get a new set of legs!
And Thanks Mod. for Grammatical Scrutiny.

Thanks for having a good sense of humor about it. Lord of the Dance is certainly spectacular and has been wildly popular, but there is so, so, so, so much great traditional Irish music in the world now - probably more than ever before - and it’s not the spectacle that makes it beautiful and special, it’s the heart and soul.

Great replies! I’ve contacted Orlaith already, waiting for more details, and I won’t miss her sunday concert then!
You know what, I liked lord of the dance more than expected (I don’t usually like dance stuff) but I’d love to ask
Mr. Flatley for a flute session… that would be AWSOME!
