I had the honour of teaching at this event last year. The craic is 90. the hospitality is 2nd to none. The venues are great. The locals are great. The choir is great. The enthusiasm for piping was great. It is incredibly well organised. and a better host than Merrion would be hard to find.
The reed making in itself looks great not to mention the tutors. Book early!!!
Hi everyone. We are holding are raffle to raise some funds for our tionól and concert . The raffle is registered with the council. The prizes are £50 , £20 , £10 and we have acquired a few bottles of Welsh whisky too !! The tickets are £1 each and come in books of £5. If you’re interested in buying some , just drop me a pm. All the best Mei
I’ll second everything that Buzz said. I had the honour of attending last year’s event and loved every minute of it. The tuition with Buzz was particularly enjoyable and the session, with Buzz and Steve, was great, inlcuding the male voice choir which was just superb. Both Alan Burton and Alan Moller were there, so reed making was well represented.
Needless to say I’ll be travelling down there from Manchester again this year to catch up with Mei and friends.
I spent two days last week with Tiarnan at the Belgian tionol. He’s a very nice man, incredibly talented piper and a great teacher. We learned three lovely tunes plus ornementation and the evening recital was stunning. Don’t know anything about the South Wales Tionol, but Tiarnan’s piping is sure worth the trip !
Yes Tiarnán is a good fella. Had the pleasure of his teaching and his piping at last years NWUP tionól. He’s also a good fella to have a couple of pints with too.
Hi folks , Unfortunately Martin Preshaw isn’t going to be coming to the tionól but we still have Tiarnan , Alan Burton & Alan Moller coming along. I can gaurantee a great day and night of music amd merryment !! Hope to see you in the valleys.
The thought of a whole Welsh male voice choir sinning away in Libya is mindblowing! I used to work there and can confirm that sinning goes on just like in any other place. However, it can be a little more dangerous.
Luckily for us the choir aren’t going to Libya as the pageant they were going to sing in has been cancelled , so they will be joining us in the pub for a sing song after all.
Just a reminder if you’re interested in coming along to our tionól just drop me a line for info. All the planning is done and we’re just waiting for the off. It’s going to be a blinder for sure
What a fantastic weekend of piping !! A big thank you to Tiarnan , Alan Burton & Alan Moller for all their sterling efforts. It was also great to see the next generation of future pipemakers in Makoto & Chris. And to all the pipers who turned up a big thank you. See you all next year.
