I’ve decided to sell my Sweetheart D in blackwood/ebony with silver rings. I’ve had this whistle for close to 10 years and I maybe play it for 10 minutes in a month. It’s really time to see if someone else would like to have it.
The condition is really excellent and the only blemishes are some of the usual nicks around the fipple. The wood is pitch black with some deep reds(near the fipple) that show up in good lighting. It gets oiled once a month or so and is kept away from hazardous conditions(i.e. kids, pets, fireplaces, accordians). I’ll post pics soon.
For those who don’t know…the new model Sweet whistles have curved windways and conical bores.(this is by my comparison with information I gathered from the Sweetheart website).
The old models(like this one) have a flat windway and cylindrical bore.
I cannot account for the difference in the sound of the two models.
This whistle has a rounded, pure kind of tone. It’s full-sounding in the lower octave and gets tighter and more focused in the second. Sadly, I find that it sounds very similar to a recorder…but it does PLAY like a pennywhistle.
Anywho…I’ll take $175 or best offer(shipping included in sale price)
I’m hoping to use the money to buy a mezzo G whistle from another board member but I’ll entertain trade offers of mezzo Gs if the other one gets sold.
Thanks, Jason
