FS: New Sweetheart Resonance Rosewood D Flute

I would like to sell my nearly brand new (a month old) lovely Sweetheart Resonance model rosewood D flute. It’s a beauty, and typical of Mr. Sweet’s work. But shortly after I got it, I was fortunate to acquire a blackwood Olwell, so it’s hardly been played and I don’t expect to be playing this one. It’s new and perfect, but since you’d be getting it “second hand” so to speak, I’ll sell it for $350 (it’s $375 from Sweetheart), plus shipping. Shipping will be per Sweetheart’s policy–see their webpage. I believe it’s $6 for U.S./Canada priority mail with tracking. He recommends insurance, but that’s more expensive, if you want it, and I have good packing materials. For simplicity, I’d prefer to ship it somewhere in the U.S., since I’m usually a buyer and have never shipped a flute outside the U.S., but I’ll figure out the international thing if I have to.
Please p.m. me if interested. I can post a photo if necessary, but it looks just like the one on the Sweetheart webpage.
Thanks!
Jaydoc

Bump…
This is a fine flute. If you’re interested, feel free to make me an offer by pm.
Thanks,
Jaydoc

Bump. I’ll bump this a bit longer, then just hang on to it. Actually, the more I play it the more I like it. I’ll also post some pics or maybe even a recording when I can. It is a light colored rosewood (I believe the wood darkens with age). Beautiful matched figuring in the wood, somewhat eliptical embouchure hole. The holes are moderately small, making this a very nice starter flute for someone who doesn’t want to spend the dough on one of Mr. McGee’s Glen Larson Preferred (the holes on which are smaller, on mine at least). One other thing to note, in case you’re not aware. The Sweetheart doesn’t have a metal tuning barrel, but rather a wood tenon. So it’s still tuneable, but doesn’t have the vulnerability to cracking like a flute with a metal lining or tuning barrel. Hence a good alternative to delrin or other non-wood flutes. Please PM if interested–reasonable offers considered.

Jaydoc

i thought they were large holed flutes? is the embouchure on the small side as well?

Hey Eliam,

I think the embouchure is nicely proportioned and efficient (not too large).

I found the design very similar to a McGee GLP (but I’ve only tried the old DymondWood versions).

looks nice !

Well, I didn’t “bump” this for a while because I’ve been enjoying the flute, but, in spite of being disheartened by the string Casey started about a downturn in the flute-sales market, I still need to sell this one. As I said, it looks like the one on the Sweetheart website and is essentially brand new, but I’m going to take a stab at posting a pic (not a great one–just my cel phone). I think the embouchure is a little more oval than the one in the pic previously posted. The holes are fairly small, maybe a bit bigger than the GLP. It’s an easy player and sounds very nice. As a kicker, and now that I’ve sold something else on ebay and realize what a chunk they take (albeit with some cool shipping services, etc.) I will lower the price on this to $325 plus shipping (it’s 375 plus shipping new and this one is essentially new). Happy to answer any questions by pm. Here’s a stab at the photo:

In addition, I want to sell my McGee GLP Blackwood flute. It’s in perfect condition, sounds beautiful and is incredibly easy to play. It also has a uniquely beautiful rosewood case (that alone goes for $250). I’m not posting it separately now, in part because I see another member is selling a GLP ironwood and I don’t want to push mine too hard. That said, I’d sell it with the wooden case for $750. PM if interested and I’ll take a pic. I’m selling both because I now have a lovely Olwell and now that I can play a little better, I’m preferring the larger holed flute, plus I’m trying to finance some guiter gear (my main instrument).

Best,Jaydoc

Well, I can’t match that “bumpty bump” youtube video, and also can’t seem to figure out how to post a photo, but I’m still looking to sell this very nice, nearly new Sweetheart Rosewood D flute.
PM if interested.
Yes, the holes are on the small side, somewhat like the McGee GLP.

Bumpin again. I know someone will take advantage of this nice flute at a discount…The emboucher on mine is a little more oval shaped than the one in the other pic someone posted. Great entry into wood flute…but I’m lovin my Olwell…
Best wishes,
Jaydoc

A bump, I guess, but maybe not. I’m asking now only $325, and will include a Sweetheart padded case (goes for $39, so it’s like getting this nice flute for $285)! This is very playable, a bit like the McGee GLP. I’ve taken excellent care of it, and it’s nearly new. I can send a pic, but can’t seem to manage figuring out how to post one on my message (sorry, MT…)
PM or email if interested.
Best,
Jaydoc

Bump on the Sweetheart (and you can pm if you’d like to make an offer–really, nothing wrong at all with this flute, just have too many and have to make the difficult choice to let something go). Also, I’ve decided not to sell the McGee GLP. But I have an M&E keyless blackwood D with a new barrel built by Jon Cornia that I would sell for $350 (plus postage), including the hard case it came with. I see Michael is having a sale, and those are about $400, plus about $40 for the case. I liked the M&E very much, it’s nice sounding and playing, but the barrel cracked. Now, with the new barrel built a year ago by a wonderful craftsman, I think it’s worth more than the original, and has had no further issues at all. Very nice player, very well cared for. Please pm if interested.

Jaydoc

You seem to like the Sweetheart flute and don’t really want to sell it, so I suggest that you keep it. Why don’t you get rid of that old Blackwood Olwell flute that you mentioned. I’ll offer you $325 for it, and you will not have to include the padded case. Let’s get this transaction completed before anyone else notices.

$326…

Best wishes.

Steve

You definitely have been watching too much daytime TV.

Watch Oprah, eat bon-bons, check C&F, that’s my life…

Best wishes.
