[SOLD]: Hammy Hamilton keyless Blackwood D flute

Thank you, it’s SOLD!

Here’s a very nice flute for sale (to someone in the USA), and the price is right ($550 plus shipping-figure + $15 East coast, or + $18 West coast). I bought it about a month ago from another board member, and somehow since then, got tangled up in some other flutes, so I’ll release this one now. It would be nice for someone who would like a good session flute with a tuning slide in Blackwood, but are a little short for a new one, or if you want a good backup flute to your higher priced one, or your all wood or Delrin flute without a tuning slide.

This is from the early 80’s, has had a crack repaired in the back of the headjoint previously (which looks fine), is in excellent condition (could use a bit of a bore polish though), and plays very well. Nice thick silver rings too! The only real stretch is on the bottom hole, about 40 mm center to center from D to E-pretty easy for a flat finger grip (piper’s) with average hands.

It’s definitely got an Irish voice-a very distinctive full, rich, Hammy tone, and takes a bit of embouchure control to play (embouchure hole is on the small side) and plays well in tune. I probably wouldn’t recommend this for a rank beginner, unless you are up to a challenge. I don’t find it that difficult to play, but you need some focus and flexibility (especially the low notes) and it takes a little effort to play it well, though the 2nd octave is very easy. But it will reward you when you get it right! A good honker, or a sweet player, depending on your input.

Check out the previous sale (and picture) where I bought it, and the excellent clips from Gordon (Liney bear) played on this Hammy here:

I can take PayPal payments (even credit cards) but you will need to add 3.5% to cover my costs, otherwise a US Postal MO is best, or a check is fine if I know you.

Good luck! I’m having a hard time wanting to let it go, but I guess I can’t keep 'em all!
