What did I tell ya? The evening views are more impressive.

I want to see the wheels in the sky that keep on turning.
That one reminds me of a Tequila Sunrise…er…Sunset. ![]()
Looks like a cup of Java to me…
Does the direction of the moon’s crescent appear to change when you go to the Southern hemisphere?!
Which is Venus and which is Jupiter in the Australian pic?

another shadowy question?
Actually, neither. The whole event was staged by NASA in a warehouse in SoCal.

In the Northern Hemisphere, the moon waxes to match the right hand (held in a crescent, or like the letter D) and wanes to match the left hand (held in a crescent, or if you prefer, the letter C).
In the Southern Hemisphere it is the other way around.
According to the blurb, Venus is the brighter body.
Thank you! The one time I was south of the Equator that’s what I thought I saw, but then wondered if I’d gotten confused. It’s been known to happen ![]()
only the shadow knows
Here’s an interesting explanation of How to tell if the moon is waxing or waning in the Northern Hemisphere. Just reverse the techniques for the Southern Hemisphere (e.g., South of the equator, the moon tells the truth).
