Slightly OT - any Ocarinas available for sale??

I always try to buy used before I buy new (one way to recycle! and it’s often cheaper) and I’m looking for a nice 4 or 5 hole BIG ocarina. Something with a nice, relatively deep sound. I heard this duo playing on the bus yesterday, a guitarist and an ocarinaist (is that a word?) and it just sounded so great, I got inspired.

So, if anyone has one collecting dust on a shelf somewhere, please contact me. I’m looking for something under $30ish. Thanks!

Have you checked Lark in the Morning? The Seattle store had a bunch of them.

I have been to the SF Lark, but they are usually pretty pricey, and I thought I’d give someone on the board a chance to unload one if possible first.

Drop me an email to remind me and I will make you a sound clip of my ocarina. It’s not too big so I don’t know if it’s deep enough for you. But it’s cheap.

House of Musical Traditions ( http://www.hmtrad.com ) has nice wooden ones; the sopranino sounds great and last I knew was about 20-30 bucks. They play much better than the clay ones I’ve tried.

eBay often has ocarinas.

Yeah but I wouldn’t trust a lot of them to be in tune with themselves…

I work at a Renaissance Festival, and there’s an ocarina maker there. I think they’re all clay, but I’ve heard him play quite a few of 'em, and they sound pretty good. If you wish, I’ll send you his business card &/or URL. email me at:
