Slieve na mbhan

Slieve na mbhan? Can somebody write it how it should be spoken please? It’s very haunting and would sound lovely on the flute if I can manage it.

Hi,
I think it’s like “Sleeve na Mon” at least thats how I’ve heard it in North Antrim.

Cheers, Mac

I asked the same question on the whistle boarde some time ago. I got some other translations at that time as well.

Here’s the link:

It means “the mountain of the women”…Great tune!

Cheers,

Doc

Thanks a lot.

The first word should be pronounced as “shleeve” otherwise MacEachain’s dead-on (now if someone could just teach people in Antrim how to speak english I’d be happy).

Hi Paul, that’s not a job I would take on. How’s things by the way?

Cheers, Mac
