SLC Session playlist w/MP3s - continuously updated

We’re getting there, folks!! Looks like the final file count will be something in the eighties.

In a few weeks I hope to have data cds (mp3 and pictures) and audio cds (selected tracks, for use in a regular cd player) available for order at cost of shipping and media.

I want to get a general idea of the number of people interested in CDs. If you think you might like to order a CD (or more than one), please email me with your location and what you are interested in, and I will put you on the ‘tentative’ list. This will not mean that you are required to get one, it’s just a head count. I will have to charge a little bit for them - $4 USA priority shipping and $1 for every CD (with case) that you want. If you can’t afford it, tell me and we will work it out - I don’t want anyone who wants a CD to have to miss out. More details later.

Java Journeyman Jig (?)

The Job of Journeywork, probably? It’s one of the traditional solo set dances, although I’m sure there’s more of a history to it than that.

Here we go with the nit picking (this won’t be too terrible, I promise!).

You will have better results searching for mp3s or ABCs if you use correct titles:

The Shores of Lough Gowna (Sometimes the Bank of Lough Gowna; this tune is usually played in B minor but can be played in A minor with a different mood and color)

The Monaghan Jig

The Boys of Ballisadare

Try “Old Hag You Have Killed Me”, “The Old Hag in the Kiln”, “The Hag’s Purse”, “The Hag at the Churn”, and “The Hag With the Money”. These are all different tunes, all worth knowing.

The Gander in the Pratie Hole

Maids of Mount Kisco

That oughta do it. I’m not doing it to pick, only trying to be helpful. Good luck all.

Hi Pat, thanks for the spelling corrections, they are appreciated. Just to elaborate, though, I am not searching for these tunes online but am pulling them off a recording I made of a session this weekend. I have all the tunes, and most of the tunes have someone saying the name, but I don’t know how to spell any of them.

Beth,

Just have a go at them all in Gaelic…that way almost NO one will know if they’re right or wrong!

Remember, gaelic is just one long consanant! LOL

B~

Just my 2c to help

At the end of the Blackthorn Stick MP3 is a tune called the Kesh Jig.

Guys, are these tunes coming through loud enough or do I need to adjust the volume? I’m used to having my speakers turned way up when dealing with wav editing, so I might not have it at a typical level. Opinions?

Volume seems fine on my end…unlike some I’ve downloaded where the recording is so quiet that I’ve wondered whether I’ve downloaded some silence

Beth,

You captured the essence of a fun informal session so well I almost feel like I was there. Every comment and kid noise -nothing edited out. I like that! And the volume is perfect for my system! I do look forward to every one of the tunes as you get them up.

Cool!
Mack

Beth,

This is great! Can’t wait for more. I’m working on my QuickBooks and the music makes it go faster! Hurry up with more!!!

Kathy

Those clips were cool! Can’t wait to hear more

Glad you like them! It makes it worth it to make them.

But don’t expect any new ones between 2 AM and 5 PM on weekdays, I can’t do much mpegging from work!

By the way, that “unidentified rock song” was “Smoke On The Bog,” I believe.

Hehe, thank you, I was going to ask you about that. There are a few other Tom Solos (as opposed to Han) that I will be asking you about later, too.

Hey Beth - Do John Ryan’s Polka - I’ve been working on it this week. Thanks!
Susan
(Just tried to send you an email but it was returned. I’m having trouble downloading some of the songs - I’m positive it’s me, but is there going to be another way to get the songs? - I think someone mentioned a CD.)

Beth,
what was the release date of the CD?

bows your wish is my command!

(Actually, I already had it up before I saw your post, but the end result is the same!)

An awesome version, this is one of my favorites from the night.

Haha…dunno. First I am getting all of them in low-quality mp3 format, to facilitate identification and let Tom, Brian, Cees and Susan get the big dreamy smiles I’ve been wearing all week. Then when they are all ID’d I have to figure out how many can fit on an audio CD and which ones those should be. Maybe I’ll have people vote. Then I have to burn the CD and make the cover, of course.

And hopefully before that I will have the webpage up. I sketched the layout in a boring meeting today, just have to find time to do it. Too bad there’s no excuse to do HTML at work…

Finally, I want to take the WHOLE night and see if I can fit it all in stereo MP3 format on a single data CD. Dunno if it is possible. For that I will have to go through the whole crop again and make new split points so nothing is left out.

But it’s fun!

I hope to be done well before Thanksgiving, if for no other reason than the fact that I go back to school then and everything that isn’t done will get shoved on the back burner. Ideally I will be done before Sept 20th, because I expect to get some more recordings then!

That’s RIGHT! We gotta keep that weekend open don’t we?!

Hey Beth, just wanted to drop a H-U-G-E thanks your way for undertaking all this! You’ve got both the skills and the tenacity to see it through! LOL

And Tom thought I was the one who was uncontrolable!

B~

No, he thought you were irrepressible!

Drop me a line, or a phone call (I’m home), or a chat room (about to go in and lurk) about that weekend, eh? and after sunday I’ll know more about boise session.
