Silly question

What do you almost get if you combine the words “silly” and “inane” ?

You must realize that I am not “taking the P”, but adding one. Don’t ask about the "Y"s or wherefores. And something is left over “in” this anagram.

The whole is the subject of a long-winded discussion that some may see as silly, or even inane.

(I realize that the debate is important to many. I’m just having fun with words. Apologies to Rich also for the non-useful subject line)

Steve,

Uh…your mind sure works in interesting ways…

“SPILLANE” of course! However, I must say that Flately was an excellent guess!

Best wishes, Tom
