Hi, and welcome to Chiff and Fipple.

As you can see, your post didn’t really work. If you’re having trouble, there’s a spot called the Support Center at the bottom of the opening page where you can find out about posting and practice using the system features. Hope to hear from you soon!

Well, that was quite bizzare. I quit my browser and came back and logged in, and now everything’s fine.

So, I’m looking for anyone who plays Shaw low whistles, especially low D, as I’m currently learning to play a low d and low f. I find the low f easier to play. I like the sound I get from the low d, but it takes a lot of effort and I want to know if I should continue playing it, or find another low whistle.

Here’s a clip of my low d and high d:

Hi! Yeah, that was kind of wierd.

I had a Shaw low D that I liked well enough. It took a LOT of breath though, and the instrument itself was sort of fragile. It was the only whistle I ever bent.

I shoved matchsticks in the windway, one on each side, narrowing it. Easy to play low d.

I shove bamboo in mine and slap it around a bit until it learns who’s boss.
