Sessions (or anything) within 40 miles of 12566?

So I’ve been living here in Pine Bush (near Middletown, NY), about an hour and a half north of NYC, for a while now and I haven’t found anything to do with Irish music. I know there’s something in Garrison, which is probably an hour or so from here, and I may check it out, but does anyone know of anything else?

I know the Albany area is a bit outside your 40 mile limit, but there are sessions here.

Third Sunday at the Hibernian for a “real session”.

Every Tuesday there is a slow session with a great group of folks.

I know there is one in Chatham, NY, I think the fourth Sunday and there has got to be something up in the Durham/Hunter Mt. region.

Let me know if you ever plan to make it up this far. Would love the chance to say hello.

Mike

Thanks for the info, but that’s over two hours away. I grew up in Woodstock, which is an hour and fifteen minutes from here, and Albany is just as far from Woodstock in the other direction.

NYC is only an hour and a half away, but I don’t like big cities.

I would like to find a session community, one that’s not too far away to get to regularly.

Sunday afternoon session at The Owen Murphy Inn, 1700 Route 17M, Goshen, NY, 10924. Telephone # 845-294-0182. Maybe 20 miles from you - less than half an hour.

All kinds of music, different stuff different times, including IrTrad at Bodles Opera House, 39 Main St, Chester, NY, 10918. Telephone #845-469-4595. Probably 25 miles away. Figure 40 minutes.

You should be on John Rogers mailing list (Hudson Valley Irish), if you’re not already. PM me for the linkage if you need it. And definitely PM me if you’re going to the Owen Murphy session. I’m usually sleeping when it goes on, but I’ll get up early and make a special trip over if you decide to go. I’m only about 15 minutes from there (in Highland Mills).[/url]

Yay! Goshen! That’s exactly what I am looking for! I had my last sonogram there. I can’t believe I didn’t ask sooner! Thanks! Yes, wake up early…how about this Sunday?

I was on John’s list for a long time, but most of it was contradance stuff, and I lost interest. I opted out when I left Woodstock. One time there was supposed to be a session at the Rhinecliff hotel. John and I were the only ones who showed up! So we played whistles for a while.
