Selling my pipes

Hey guys, I am selling my Boisvert chanter, my bag(unknown maker), and my bellows from MacWarner. To be honest, I have no idea how to work them. I just need a teacher I guess, and I am actually very involved with the flute now. I am selling the pipes for flute money. The chanter is Cocobolo with boxwood mounts and it has key blocks if you want to add keys in the future. The bellows were 250.00 alone. It is black leather with wool pads, and it has an arm and waist belt. I don’t think either Boisvert or MacWarner makes these anymore. What would be a good price to sell these at? Thanks.

It also has a reed made by Boisvert, and a brass reed cap.

…it wouldn’t be cocus, I’ve never used the stuff in my life. If it’s brown it’s cocobolo, if it’s black it’s either ebony or af.blackwood.

Cheers!
David

no, I’m not taking orders anymore, just names.

Thank you for that correction David, it is cocobolo then. I get those two mixed up.

Too bad you’re giving 'em up, there are a few good pipers in Tampa and one to the north of you (John Maze) in Gainesville who I am certain would help you out in getting started… if you buy him a Starbucks and ask nice.

Oh, and I nearly forgot, there is a Tionol in Gainesville the weekend of February 27, no better place to get started beyond a private instructor.
It’s not too late to keep at it. Failing that, the Tionol will most likely have flute classes too.

I really appreciate that Joseph, but I forgot to mention that I just moved to a small town outside of Asheville N.C. Thank you for the info though.

Then you’re close to Pat Sky, not to mention the Swannanoa Gathering (which I’m sure you know about already).

Actually I have no idea about that. I knew Pat Sky lived in N.C., I didn’t know about near Asheville. I also don’t know about the gathering, I just moved here a couple of months ago. Thanks for that info.

And for help right in Asheville … there’s a young fellow there named Duncan Wickel. He’s primarily a fiddler I think, but lately has been tearing it up on the pipes. Here’s their myspace page:

From the most recent friends post it looks like there’s at least one other piper in the neighborhood.

Thanks for that Cathy

Dang, but you live in the same town with my all-time favorite singer-song writer…the man is truly amazing..David Wilcox (not the Canadian dude…) If you haven’t already, try and catch one of his shows.

I sure will David, I will look out for his name in the papers, and ask around about him.

Where abouts are you located? There’s a good Irish music scene in Asheville, and, for the size of the city and considering where its located, quite a few pipers. Duncan’s living in Boston at the moment, but Pat Sky, EJ Jones, Quinto Espino (spelling?) and myself all live and play around here.
