Selling an Olwell flute on Ebay

Trying to save some money for the Stephane Morvan flute that’s coming in December (I hope!). If you are interested, it’s here:

oooh Jordan is in there quick with a bid, there’s excitement to come. Not for us poor Uropeens tho… :frowning: :frowning:

Hey Gaaslaj,

Do you know what model the flute is? (Appears to be Nicholson, but I don’t want to assume!)

The wraps are very bansurish, but nothin that Jon C. couldn’t fix! I think the rosewood would look nice with some silver rings over the sockets!

Hey Treeshark,

Wilkes owners are verboten! When you’ve reached the top, you’ve got no where else to go! :stuck_out_tongue:

Also how old is it?

less than either of us…

but old for a PO flute.

When I sent it to Pat, it didn’t have a number on it. He didn’t stamp his flutes at first. He guessed it was about 78 and stamped it with that. So yeah, it’s an early one. He did sand the bore and tweak it though, and he said it plays nicely which it does. It’s not a session blaster, but it is very sweet. And light. Seems like a feather compared to my 8 key Gallagher Pratten! He said a new one like it would cost about $650. When I first got it, I had it across my knees at a session, and leaned on it… big mistake! It put a crack in the socket. I didn’t know how he would repair it until I got it back. Had no idea he was going to wrap it! The wood if very pretty, and it smells nice. All for now, J.

Wow, I’ve never seen an Olwell with a short foot!

I have an Olwell all-wood rosewood medium-holed flute from probably the same vintage as this one (no serial #). It’s truly wonderful.
