A long term fan of this forum, this is my first post and is about a private sale.
I am selling my Olwell keyless blackwood flute on ebay. It will be listed from 19-40 UK time this Thurs 20th October and in for 10 days. As it’s a rare item, I have consulted various C&F threads and, out of self preservation placed a starting price of £995 although I gather they have fetched significantly more. It is a fabulous flute that, having spoken to Patrick Olwell and measured it, I believe is a Nicholson - see the entry.
It’s in Bristol, England but I could post worldwide.
Many thanks.
I know the Man and he is good trustable chap.
the flute itself, is pure Olwell quality: wonderful instrument!
Also I know he has a genuine (keyed) reason to sell it.
Yes, a Nicholson or even a Rudall but definately not a Pratten. Look at the foot joint, it’s fairly long and the “venting” holes are of different diameters. Not something you’d see on a Prattens foot which has holes of the same diameter. The one piece body also seems longer and more slender than that of a Pratten. But the foot is the giveaway, IMO…
Two days left to go, 3 bids so far: 1015 GBP = 1,629.99 USD. I suppose things will go mental 5 minutes before the bidding closes
1.271 GBP - 13.077 USD that’s cheaper than a new keyless D Olwell anyway.
[ Guess that should be $2052 USD. - Mod ]
