There are several tunes on the BBC Virtual Session site that I want to learn. I can hear these in Real Player. I would like to be able to download these to my computer so that I can put them into Slowdowner.
Does anyone have any idea if this can be done and how to do it?
The tunes are: Out on the Ocean, Off to California, Boys of Bluehill. Any other downloadable sources for these tunes known? I have searched my meagre but growing Cd collectin and several music sites to no avail.
TIA
Liz
I don’t know of any way to record RealAudio streams. There must be one, but the whole point of the streaming audio concept is to stop you from recording stuff.
I can send you something by email if you like. mp3s OK?
This is what you do if you want to record anything that comes out from your computer speakers, presuming you use a Windows OS.
-
Get your recording program (sound recorder, goldwave, etc) on standby.
-
Double click the “Volume” control icon at the bottom right of your screen.
-
Click on “options” (at the top left corner) and select properties.
-
Place the “Adjust Volume for” option`to “Recording”
-
Under the “Show the following volume controls” box, make sure you have “Mixed Output” checked. It may also be called “What you hear” if your Windows version is more recent.
-
Click OKay and now you should see a volume control bar for “Mixed Output”. Place a tick in the “Select” box in that category.
-
Now whatever your computer speaker plays (streaming audio, mp3s, midis) will be recorded when you toggle the record function of any recording program.
Hope that helps!
I use this method for recording liveireland.com . Just keep in mind that any other sounds such as instant message notifications or a windows sound scheme will also be recorded, unless you disable them.
