I was made aware of this movie in Scottish Gaelic language (subtitled) and ordered it from Amazon.co.uk, now I only need to find a source for buying the soundtrack, too as Amazon does not seem to offer it.

It took nearly two months to receive the DVD, I was not aware that it was not released when I ordered.
Last night we watched the movie. Twas not a problem for me to get along with reading the subtitles to understand what was said. Even though the production had to be low cost, the movie did not suffer from this. The story and the legends told in the movie were nicely knitted together… really enjoyed watching it, loved seeing the Skye landscape again, it has been a long time since I was there and made me want to go there again.
The music suited perfectly to the pictures shown, really enjoyed it and hope the soundtrack will be released soon, too.
What I realised and was corrected by hearing is that Scottish gaelic does not have a lot of rolling Rrrrs which I thought it has due to the Scottish accents I come across… it sounds more like a mixture of the dialect spoken around my area which is similar to the Dutch spoken 20 min. away and has “sch” and “ch” sounds. I thought I might have an advantage getting a grip on Scotish Gaelic being able to nicely roll my Rrrrs… waiting for a “wee gaelic lesson’s” CD to see if I may be able to learn a little.

I was curious about this film, but haven’t actually seen any footage. The film itself will probably never make its way over here, so it would have to be a (very expensive) special order.

Actually the dvd via Amazon.co.uk was only about 13 Pounds which was a lot less than amazon Germany offered it for. There is interview footage on it and an additiona short film of about 15 min. which seems to have been the kickstarting idea of making a full movie.

The DVD is only available for Region 2 (Europe).

I’ve been looking forward to seeing this for a few months now. My understanding is that the plot has a lot of similarities to Big Fish.
There has also been a lot of controversy over this film due to BAFTA not putting it up for the “Best Foreign Language” Oscar.

I have no idea about the movie Big Fish so I cannot compare, but I would call it a “storytelling”-movie, like sitting around (not on 
) a fire place and someone tells tales of Faeries, Kelpie’s, Kings and Magicians… not to say too much about the plots.
I read about the BAFTA and not suggesting it so I was prepared for a “low budget-looking” movie… now having seen it, I am surprised about their decision… I have seen much worse for 20 times the budget being put up for a real Oscar, so it is a little sad it does not find support in the UK “film-thingy”, could have been a lovely prestige movie for them on foreign language.

Don’t you have a region 0 capable dvd player? that would play a region 2 dvd as well.
Or is it that your dvd/tv combination cannot convert to a psuedo NTSC signal. Most modern TVs here can accept a NTSC signal readily enough, so thought that it could work the other way in the Region 1 zone.

If you don’t have an all-region DVD player, you can play a region 2 DVD on your computer.
