My fitb’a team, Hibernian FC, are playing the cross town Edinburgh rival
Heart of Midlothian FC in the semi-final of the Scottish Cup in front of
55,000 animated drunks on Sunday. Game time is 6am Sunday
Wisconsin time. I’ll be sitting in front of the TV (SetantaUSA channel
615) in my green and white PJ’s with a coffee … and perhaps a beer or
two if things are going well. You’re all welcome to join me - but
bring your own PJ’s.
good luck, hope you hump the lithuanians. Especially as they put Aberdeen out of the cup with some of the most disgraceful decisions I’ve seen for a long time.
er… I was hoping you hadn’t noticed the embarrassing score at Hampden.
It was really worth dragging myself out of bed at 6am Sunday - NOT.
What can I say? The better team won. Hibs have an enormous injury
list and will have mostly reserve players for the next few games so I
reckon you’ll win rather handily at Pittodrie on Saturday.
Chrisoff - is the Commercial Inn pub still in existence? I spent a
couple of unforgettable nights drinking heavily there many moons ago.
My best mate at the time was from Aberdeen.
hmm. where was it? I haven’t heard of a pub called that in Aberdeen. If it was in the city centre then I don’t think it’s there now as I’m familiar with most of the pubs here. might be able to tell you what it’s turned into if you can give me a location though.
It was on Commerce St down near the Ferry Quay - we were staying
close by in Footdee, which of course. was pronounced Fittie. That was
way back in 69/70 - back in the days when men were men and sheep
were nervous.
Well i don’t spend much time down there but I’m pretty sure it doesn’t exist anymore. Though there are a couple of other notorious pubs in that area now (peep peeps comes to mind).
Oh and men are still men, fittie is still pronounced fittie and sheep are still nervous
