Santa brought me a shiny new whistle! Anyone else get a new

I got to play my Sindt at last. My other present which hasn’t arrived yet is a copy of the Folkworks Session Collection three + CD. These are made in Northumberland and I must say very good for beginners. The tunes are played slowly through first and then played normal speed. The book is the sheet music. The link is here where you can find other Northumberland NE music and stuff.

I received my first “Burke”, a brass D. I think I have found Nirvana. How “Sweeeeeeet it is”!

Hi Selkie,I’m Pleased that you’ve finally got to enjoy that Sindt!I have the 1st volume of the Folkwork collections, the C.D. recording by David Oliver on accordian is very well produced(i like the way that you can emphasise the melody or the backing simply by boosting the left or right channel on your stereo).Regards.

I got to two new water weasels a high D and a C. I am also getting a new flute which will arrive in January, I can’t wait.

I got more money to buy more Megs for other people that can’t get them in their part of the world! Whee! Good Christmas loot…and I get more “whistle babies!” Geeze I like these “kids!” The whistles are only the warm up, and “my” kids are really something! Everywhere the Corrs go on tour, young folks want a Walton’s Little Black, so they get a whistle with no strings attached, but it’s not a Little Black! Last one I had ended up in an installtion by Sandy Skogland painted green! I think, though, I’ll probably switch to Sweetones! Anyone else want to participlate or donate, call or write to Thom at the Whistle Shop. This whistle giveaway is the most fun I’ve had for a long long time! Whee! Besides, people need to have the means to make music.

Hey, Selkie, is your carrier bouncing my e-mail again?

Waiting for the Mothership…

-No new toys, but an epiphany-a re-discovery of how nice a Sweetone can sound when played with good breath control.

I’m a rookie to this. Got my first whistles for Christmas. Boy do I stink. Got a package containing a Clark Sweetone, and a Claire, along with to instruction books and CDs. Haven’t seen my dog and cat in 2 days now.

For Christmas ordered a Copeland high D! If I’m lucky it might be here in time for my birthday.

Oh, I fogot to mention. I got a nice cedar Native American flute!

I bought both of my youngins a Meg for Christmas. I got a Feadog D, Little Black D, Generation Bb, and a silver Meg. This brings my total whistle count to 6. With the kids’ whistles, the house total is 8.

My wife thinks I’m just plain crazy for getting more whistles…something about only being able to play one at a time, only been playing for a month and a few weeks, and other nonsense like that. I try to rationalize saying how different each one sounds and how I need one at home, work, car, etc. She just shakes her head and walks away.

(I sure do love the sound of that Bb!)

I gave away a couple of Megs and 3 Dixons, all in D. I got a Goldie Overton in C, black anodized.

AND I GOT A NEW PUPPY!!!

(Ok, it wasn’t a whistle, or even whistle related, but I’m very excited about it anyway).

Very nice Jim,but remember-A WHISTLE ISN’T JUST FOR CHRISTMAS!. err hope i got that right!..

No whistles as gifts, but I am converting some uncommitted funds into Dixons. However, my wife gave me a bodhran and a nice tutorial tape, so now I’m finding out which is the least objectionable – a novice whistler or a beginner bodhran player.

But the best present for me came a little before Christmas when I got to play a jig for my two sons to dance to at their Irish dance performance. Although they’ve danced in public before, this was the first time I had played in front of anyone other than family. Making it through without having to breathe into a paper bag was a major life accomplishment.

I’m like Jim, no new whistles for Christmas here, unlike Jim, no new puppy either,
but… yesterday, my youngest daughter(not real young though-she’s 25) suprised us with a new SON-IN-LAW! It was not unexpected, but was a plesant suprise.

Wow, Santa didn’t bring me anybody.

I got two LOTR soundtracks and I just keep listening to that Concerning Hobbits theme and pretending I don’t live in an apartment.

There’s your Christmas blues. Alas!

I got a generation high F… and oh, it is high! And some other non-whistle cool musical toys: a limber jack (Anyone else have one of these fun toys?), a tabor pipe, an angklung (Indonesian bamboo bells— which I have yet to figure out), and some cool ethnic percussion rattles/shakers, etc. Fun stuff!!! I’m especially excited about the tabor pipe— it is COOL!! Also received a couple new books for my hammered dulcimer, and some wonderful Green Linnet CD’s! =)
