Got three whistles!
I was having trouble deciding between a Freeman-tweaked Shaw and a Clarke Original, C or D, so the hubby got me both! Well, he got me two of the tweaked Shaws. One in C and one in D. And threw in the Clarke Orginal in C as well. I can already see I’ve go lots of practice ahead of me!
HeySue!
Me too! Santa brought me a Burke narrow-bore aluminum D whistle! It’s been hard to put it down!
That’s great! I was really REALLY hoping for a SYN-full Christmas this year, but to no avail. There’s always my birthday in March!
My husband bought me a Clarke original D!
Now I understand why everyone says about the different tones of different whistles - I have a Meg which I’ve been trying to learn to play and I can tell the difference between that and the Clarke.
I think I feel a case of WhOA coming on!
Mrs. Clause brought me a Chieftain Alto Eb and a very kind hearted gentleman from the north sent me a Chieftain Tunable mezzo A and a non-tunable Bb. The Eb is very haunting and the Bb is amazing.
If I am really good in 2005 there is no telling what I’ll get.
Happy Holidays Everyone!!
No whistles for me - I’ve stopped collecting - but I did get two harmonicas and four trad CDs, three of concertina (Noel Hill, Jackie Daly) and one of harmonica (our very own Steve Shaw).
Let the next phase of instrument obsession commence!
I got a Burke Low D Viper. I love it! Thanks, Santa!!!

I got a Busman D in this amazing wood called Macacuba! It is this wonderful dark red wood with a really high shine! Not only is it beautiful but the sound is out of this world. Just effortless transition into the second octave! One of those rare whistles where the second octave B actually sounds sweet! Oh Woe is me, the breaking in period is hard to do!
Actually got to meet Paul and Charlene and their friend Cliff. Paul emailed me that the whistle was ready like two days before Christmas Eve. As it happens they were passing right by me on the way to Michigan for the holidays. So we arranged to meet in Buffalo at the famous Anchor Bar for a quick dinner and whistle drop off. It was great!!! Paul and Charlene are just great folks…we had a great time. And friend Cliff is a cool guy whom we were happy to meet too! It was like getting two gifts instead of just one. Sort of like getting the gift and getting to meet Santa and his elves all at the same time!!
Its been a blissful week!!
