Also, a 5-key ‘F’ flute in boxwood w/brass keys (no slide) is marked W.Camp 81 Tottenham Ct Rd London on 2 sections, W.Camp London on the last.
Not much advance with this one, Terry, but one to add to the corpus:
A 4-key Bb band flute (no stamps on keys!) from E Imlay.

FWIW, it seems to play at c440Hz (SL 337mm) and has a very nicely cut embouchure hole.
And here’s a Wylde from R&R in my possession - rather battered!

I have a Wylde from R&R in better conditions than Jem’s (looks new), if you need pictures let me know.
E. Imlay seems to have a little problem with their E stamp. Terry’s and Jem’s are the only two I have ever seen and they are both double stamped.

Indeed, though the “E” stamp on the head of my Bb band flute is neatly/singly done while the “Imlay” is stuttered!
I never cease to be amazed at how sloppily done these maker stamps often were on C19th flutes!
My ellipsis above was trailing towards " - are they the same flute ?" The grain seems to match.
From those mistakes it seems that the E was a single punch. The others were probably either done by having the whole line on one punch (that had to be rolled maybe) or mounting single punches in a jig. I had a Saturday job that involved occasional use of single punches (same size and font I think) onto brass. A double hit with a move between is very easy when trying to do a single light tap. Though I would have thought pressure alone would do on wood.
Well spotted, David! I hadn’t twigged myself. Terry credits someone else for drawing the image to his attention - but not the source - me! Trouble is, I can’t remember posting it before nor can I find that particular shot on my computer anywhere but it’s on my Photobucket… must have published it in another old thread here somewhere… So, we have ONE stuttered E Imlay stamp!
Re: Camp - David Migoya listed one on eBay (Item number: 320339121191) in Feb 2009 - with pictures - so you could ask him, Terry. I do have them pasted into a Word.doc and could transfer them with a bit of work failing other ways, but you’d get them better quality from DM and with his permisssion to boot?
I know of a forum member that has a Camp, not very much in tune but great tone. I think it doesn’t have the “from R&R” part though.
