Rudall & Rose 721 appears to be for sale?

R&R 721 appears to be up for sale in a New York (New Jersey 13th Dec. 2016) )ad for only £1214 ($1500). There is a photo and detailed description which describes the flute to be in excellent condition and a repaired crack by the seller who also writes: “As an example of a very early, small holed, Rudall & Rose I have to say that this is without doubt the finest that has passed through my hands in over 30 years and some hundreds of Rudalls. As a playing instrument it is a delight, and being an early small-holed flute plays much more easily in modern pitch than many later examples. To my embouchure, it plays at A=440 with the slide extended 12.5 mm, whereas many of the large-holed later instruments are impossible to play at modern pitch. The foot joint keys ( without any adjustment by me) are among the most reliable and best adjusted I’ve had the pleasure to play, and the low C just pops out effortlessly.”

The price seems low, even by todays market, for a R&R in prime condition, ready to play with original box. I seem to remember this flute was for sale between August and December, 2013 by Nollaig Ó Fiongháile of Dublin, via Hammy Hamilton in December 2013 and then she wanted €4000 (£3400) ($4206). Nollaig bought the flute from Steve Chambers about 35 years ago in Miltown Malbay. She wrote that In December 2013 the flute had no cracks and she had been playing it regularly for 25 years. http://forums.chiffandfipple.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=94628&start=0

So this could well be a scam or the seller really needs some cash? Perhaps Hammy is selling the flute, if so then all is above board

It’s right: this flute has been on for sale in 2013 and went by E-Bay for about ridicoulos 2500 €. As far as I remember, this now is exactly the same text for this offers on 2013. At it’s time, the flute was offerered on E-Bay by Hammy Hamilton himself, and he wrote it with his own name, as he himself did the repairing job as well as the E-Bay offer. For all you fluters out there:be carefully…
