I’m looking for a practice set (in earnest this time) and found one made by Robbie Hughes. Does anyone have any experience with his sets? How do they sound/play? Any info would be great. Thanks in advance.

I’ve been playing my Robbie Hughes set for 26 years now and they have never let me down. Being a professional musician, a reliable instrument is essential to me. I play my Crowley set for sessions, but on stage I always play the Hughes set, it’s just great to know that everything will work.

one of the top makers, in my unbiased opinion, I have a C half set made by Robbie and it is superb

I had terrible experience with a half set from him, but I have heard many people say nothing but good about his sets, so I guess it’s caveat emptor.

I have a half set and its great, everyone who has played it says its a great set by great maker!

My chanter from Robbie is dyn-o-mite. My drones… not so much, but I’ll persevere getting them minty fresh.
