Died yesterday at the age of 91. My family vacationed on the coast of Maine most years when I was a kid, so he was the first American artist I became familiar with. He’s still one of my favorites.
I always loved his work. Seemed to use such a moody palette…some very interesting compositions, too. And he was still painting.

odd, as the parton who bought most of his helga pictures (L.E.B. Andrews) died 10-12 days ago too, iirc.
He left the world with some amazing paintings. I love his work.

I always thought she’d had some cosmetic surgery, but I had no idea she’d started out as Andrew Wyeth. I did have a sneaking suspicion that Wyeth was a dulcimer player, though.
I appreciated his talent but didn’t care for many of his pieces. That might be due to some over exposure of his work. I think it is really great he was able to work up until the end, he still had it that’s fer sure.
When I was student teaching, I used to bicycle past his house on my way to Chadds Ford. His landscapes were my “home” places, so I really loved his work. It was also very appealing to my romantic leanings as a young person. I hadn’t thought of him in years, but hearing this news brought me back.
