right hand position

Well, I’m hard at work changing from
piper’s grip with my right hand–as you can imagine,
this really sucks. I’m not on my tippy tips of my right
hand, but I find that if I’m near them, so that the rounded
part of the end of my fingers at least feels the far part of
the hole I’m covering, I seem to have better control.
This is how I am naturally with my left hand.
I suppose this is the quasi tippy tip position.
I mean, as long as I’m going to the trouble
to change, I might as well go for the hole
closures that give me maximum control–
unless that hurts.

I think I’m going mad, in fact, however I will
persevere. Best

We know, Jim. Going starkers ain’t all that bad, really, and we love you anyway.

It (musicological dementia) goes with the territory. Pipers don’t have a monopoly on this sort of thing; it’s just that they have more maintenance issues to tear their hair out over.

The small holes of the Dixon have saved
my sanity. There is slooooow progress,
no pain. Also I’m playing G flute
and getting the right hand position
down there, where it’s easy, then
transferring back to the D flute.
Thanks for the support.
