Reed measurements for Andreas Rogge D chanter

Hi all,

could anyone supply me with reed measurements for a D chanter by Andreas Rogge. I have made numerous reeds using the standard measurements from Dave Hegartys book and have found the following results. First octave and back D are spot on, high E is sharp of F natural and rest of second octave is 30-40 cents sharp. I have tried rushing the staple to correct the sharp second octave but with little or no success and anyway I am using the same internal staple diameter as Andreas, so I’m guessing the head measurments need altering.

any help greatly appreciated,
Mark.

Why don’t ye contact Andreas direct,he does after all give reedmaking classes at the Tionals?

Thanks Liam,

that is exactly what I intend to do if no one out there can give me the measurements. Only reason I ask here first is that when you send Andreas an email it can sometimes take some weeks to get a reply, so I’m just trying to save time and get a quick answer,

regards,
Mark.

Better yet, ask him to post the measurements on his web site. I’m sure many of his customers would appreciate easy access to this info.

I suggest you send the specifications to Evertjan 't Hart to post on his reed making guide:

Here’s an image of my Rogge reed with some measurements. The staple length I believe is from the bottom up to the pencil line below the scrape. I can get that number later after I wake up a bit and break out the pipes.
