Observation: a laser pointer aimed at the bridge of a white cat’s nose causes the cat to closely resemble Rudolf.

Please don’t do that. It’s uncomfortably close to the cat’s eyes.
They do like to chase the red dot though.
Who doesn’t? Why, I’ve been able to amuse, and keep myself amused, for hours on end. 
It is, but I hasten to point out that my hand was above and behind the cat’s head; the eyes were safely below the horizon of his forehead.
Laser pointers are pretty low in wattage,
could they do much to a cat’s eye besides
just being annoying?

I had a friend who was slightly blinded (permanently) by walking into the path of a high powered lab laser. But he was working in a federal lab at the time developing laser triggers for hydrogen bombs, so I think our sympathies were mixed.

At around 670nm and 1mW, it looks like
laser pointers have a pretty high maximum
exposure time.
