-The passing of a fine chronicler and historian.

-My favorite (or at least most engaging ) history book: “The Good War”, Terkel’s amalgam of oral histories elucidating WW II years. Elder relatives’ & friends’ stories of these years are interesting but the book presents a broad sampling not limited to life in combat. -There’s no other source which brings this period to life for me as well as this book. -Not a linear history of events but a look at personal experiences of the war years at home and abroad from a wide spectrum of people.
