Jeff and I used to enjoy listening to his Rest of the Story broadcasts on WBAL radio 20ish years ago when we had time to sit in the car and listen to the radio. I was not aware, until I read this obit, of his very-conservative political and social views in earlier days, but it was interesting to read how he about-faced on many of them in later years. He was certainly, at least, honest with himself.

Sad news. I used to enjoy his broadcasts (regardless of my political take) back in high school. It was a joy, and sometimes a good belly laugh to listen to his voice and delivery. He had a good run and I will miss him.
Yep, like JES, I often disagreed with the politics of his broadcasts, yet still managed to enjoy listening to him.
He had a distinctive voice and delivery.
He can be imitated but he will never, I think, be successfully replaced.

I must admit, my first thought upon learning of Paul Harvey’s death was “and now he knows the rest of the story.”
I used to love his broadcast, and listened religiously on my car radio when I was in high school and college.

It used to be no matter where you were driving across the US, you could turn on the radio around noon and hear “stand by for NEWS!”
I’ll miss that.
I will miss him too. He gave me a view into his world which he honestly believed was true. Every time he said his byline I paraphrased John Steinbeck and replied, “That’s the truth to you.”
I too grew up in Tulsa, and have an 85 year old friend that lived across the alley from Paul Harvey and his family. As far back as I can remember, I recall his voice on the radio while my dad listened to him. You’ll be missed, Paul.
