Hello
Just heard today of the death of Felim. A fine flute player from the O’Raghallaigh family of Co. Meath, he was also a nice person.

Very sorry to hear that…though for some reason I thought Felim was the fiddle player not the flute player (maybe there’s another Felim O’Raghallaigh who plays fiddle?) I have an old tape of the O’Raghallaigh brothers in concert that several friends have described as the most energetic and viruosic ensemble recording of Irish music they’ve ever heard in their lives. You can hear the flute but he’s drowned out a bit by the concertina and fiddle, and I’ve always wanted to hear more of him alone. I had heard several years ago that one of the brothers had passed away, but maybe he was just ill then?
Hello
Felim originally played fiddle but changed to flute several years ago. There is also a brother called Macdara who played the fiddle. I know both Macdara and Michael were involved in the Naomh Padraig ceili band which has been senior all ireland champions for the past three years. I don’t know if Felim played with them.

Is this the same family with… uh-oh, I’d best just spell it in English… Kevin, the fiddler and whistle player of the recent album Kitty Lie Over?
It is always sad to think of the death of someone’s family member or loved one. Especially so for me, though, when it’s a beautiful voice that is now silent. I wish his friends and family comfort and many good memories.

Hello
I don’t believe that Kevin was related, even though they had the same surname.
Michael, Felim’s brother, (the concertina player) would be the best known. He has two concertina cds out and plays with the group providence.
Funeral is today, I believe

Sympathy and prayers…
Thank you for letting us know.
