Tony commented on another thread:
“I heard a good (electronically speaking) recording of myself. Since hearing that, I’ve felt more assured about playing staccato notes here and there for effect (like 6 in a row in a jig). I hadn’t noticed their impact while I was playing.”
Tony: I’d love to hear you elaborate a little on this. Does “staccato” = tongueing? Is your comment confined to jigs only? Are you exaggerating just a little (“6 in a row in a jig”). I’ve always been curious regarding what proportion of the notes should be tongued versus slurred, and your insight would be valuable.
Thanks,
Tom.
