Just out of curiosity, how long does it take typically for the whistle to come in? I ordered from the Burke website and was just curious how long it took others to get their’s that ordered directly from that site.
A week or two.
I think it depends. Mine took a little longer because I got the thumbhole cut. I think it was about 10 days. Still pretty fast and totally worth it!
i know it’s worth it which makes it all the worse to have to wait for it! very impatient because i reallyyyyyy want to play it

I also think it depends on what key and what material you may have ordered and as mentioned above whether you asked for a thumbhole.
Most Burkes I have ordered came within a week or two and others took as long as a couple of months based on inventory on hand and production schedules. There may be a lot of technology employed in crafting the parts for Burke whistles but they aren’t spit out of an automated production line. They are still hand voiced, I believe. And that’s the real trick in making a good whistle. A millimeter one way or another means a lot in that process.
The new website does have an indication of the “quantity in stock” for each whistle. The numbers I see there make me a little suspicious though. I wonder if they are accurate. For example, the listing for the low C# aluminum whistle shows 1000 items in stock. That’s amazing if it is accurate. Similar numbers for the low F# aluminum at 999 in stock. Those are big numbers. And I haven’t had much call for a low C# in a while.
A quick calculation says that Burke may have close to 50,000 whistles in stock. Can that be possible? I am overwhelmed by the thought if it. I better get back downstairs to my lathe.
And then you may have to consider the time of year. After all, the big day is coming and orders are likely to be at their highest. Just a thought.

Michael Burke will tell you that the numbers are not accurate. Michael is a whistle maker, not a web designer, and I guess he doesn’t have that kind of expertise, to fix that problem. Or maybe he’s just too busy making whistles to fix it. Either way, those numbers aren’t even close to accurate.

I’ve ordered a CD from the Burke website, and haven’t yet received it, more than half a year later. I’ve sent an e-mail telling this, of course, and the reply said he was going to look at it. Still, nothing has happened.
