Burke Whistles

I just spoke with Song of the Sea. They said they had just received a large shipment of Burke whistles on Monday (6/17). I ordered two and they are shipping this afternoon. John

I just ordered mine as well from SOTS…a Burke Aluminum Pro Soprano D. Had Patty play a few and hand pick one for me! Shipped out on 6/21 and should be in my anxiously awaiting hands on Tues.

I recently ordered a SAMSUNG 27" TV, must be on the way… Yeah! I hope you guys care about that…

A Samsung 27 inch? That’s like ordering a Generation high G. Why didn’t you order a JVC 35 inch? Now that’s a TV for people who wear bifocals.

I ordered pizza. Still not here.

Wow, you can get delivery in the Philippines at 1:20 a.m.! My wife’s stepmother keeps trying to tell us that it’s a third world country. I’m 45 miles from midtown Manhattan and I can’t get a pizza delivered after midnight.

Oh, wait, time zone difference. Let me look at the international clocks. Manila is 12 hours ahead of us. Enjoy your lunch.

In what key, AZ?

yummy…pizza…

Hehe, you guys are crazy! K, I didnt order a TV for real, it was a lie… (would never buy a SAMSUNG)

I have a Burke Session Brass D. I am a fairly new whistle player & find my Burke whistle easy to play. It’s a great whistle & the transitions are smooth.

Does anyone know where I could find sheet music that has arrangements for a whistle & a hammered dulcimer to play together? SOTS had no suggestions when I called them.

I have been waiting for a low Eb compostie whistle that i ordered directly from Michael Burke’s website about 3 months ago. He told me it would take him awhile before it would be ready, and besides, good things come to those who wait. Of course, you could get a good case of the worries while you’re waiting too, lol. I’m thinking of ordering another whistle from him too, but I can’t get a reply to my emails to him, which has me worried. The first email I ever sent to Mike, he answered within less than a day. It’s been over two weeks now and not a peep. But reading this forum and noting that Song of the Sea received a shipment of whistles from him has alieved some of my concerns. Anyway I was hoping someone might know if anything were wrong with M. Burke, healthwise or anything.

I can tell you that it took about a month for me to get my Brass Pro Sessions and I too worried since I got no reply from my email. I did get a reply on the second e-mail though when I told them I just wanted to confirm that they had recieved the order. I was actually suprised at getting the whistle so quickly.

Hey, a month-long wait is considered overnight delivery with some makers. If you want the best, you just have to wait. I’ve waited up to a year for a Burke. I have many of his, and they are mostly what I perform with. I just recently purchased an F-style mandolin, and while spending time on the mandolin messageboard, I learned that most mandolins take up to 18 months to receive. One top maker has even quit taking orders, Because his waiting list is so long. If you check into the Uilleann pipe scene, the wait can be years, maybe even 10 years. The best advice I can give on wait time is to just practice another whistle until the one you ordered comes through. I guaranty that you will love a Burke whistle, especially his composite whistles. They have a very sweet tone.

I placed my order with Song of the Sea on Tuesday and had them in my hands by 1:00 pm Friday. I can handle a three day waiting period.

Which whistles from Burke did they have in stock? An Ab composite, by chance?

The only composite that is listed on their website is a low D.You might want to give them a call. The lady I spoke with (Betty) was knowledgable about the composites, maybe they get some in from time to time. She also said that the Burkes go very fast.

Talked to Mike, a few days ago…Yes, he has had his plate full to overflowing in the past few months. The world sometimes throws unbelievable curves. He will reply to your e-mails…It simply may take longer.
Cheers.
