…since I haven’t had much luck over the years with emails and phone calls to you.

I thought you said you had enough whistles already!
I emphatically deny that unless you have video of me saying it…and if you do, I’ll use the insanity defense!
I bought a whistle from Michael in the last year and he promptly replied to several emails.

Yes, I should clarify that. In referring to unanswered emails, I was referring to years past. I had given up on using them to contact him, but evidently he has made prompt email replies a priority and now there is no problem. I didn’t realize that, so I just started this thread. I think the world of him, and his whistles are unbeatable. I don’t want to cause him any trouble in any way.
I ordered a burke whistle on 20th Oct it is currently at status - ‘queued’ on the order page of the website.
Anyone know roughly how long it will be before I receive it. ![]()
I emailed yesterday but no response yet.
I was truly amazed at the personal service I got thru emails from him. They were prompt and helpful. I have a great Low D and am saving my pennies to buy some more stuff. Highly recommended.
I ordered a Burke online this past summer and had it within 7 days. The day after I received it, it still showed as “in que” on the website.
It’s a great whistle!

Well I don’t know what the queued refers to cause my Burke whistle arrived today . fabulous service USA to UK.
Whistle looks and sounds great. ![]()
I think the problem is that though he’s really upped his service (delivery times are amazing lately), and he answers emails promptly, he’s not as prompt at updating his web notifications (like changing the flag from que to shipped).
On the other hand, that’s a pretty minor thing. It’s just something that can be confusing and kind of scary (until you suddenly get your whistle in the mail). Think of it as a wonderful way to get surprised.
I have another Burke on order currently…
I ordered a Burke Low D Pro Viper this month and it arrived in about a week which was faster than I expected. It’s an amazing instrument. And it’s got a cool name. Viper. I got some black leather pants with metal studs all over them to wear when I play my Viper. I added a leather whistle pouch with tassles to the saddlebags on my hog, just to hold my Viper. When I show up to a pub with my Viper, they wrap the stage in chicken wire and throw Guinness bottles at it. I was about to get capped in a drive-by, but I showed the gunman my Viper and he wet himself and ran away. Viper.
I had a nice email chat with Mike back when I reviewed that Al-Pro on my website. He was really prompt about getting back to me, and was a really nice fella
Otter, Dude, you are so way cool.
Just when I was sure my WHOA was under control now I see the need for a Viper, just so I can be cool, too.
And if its anything like my Burke high D it’ll play pretty nice too.
Oh, wait, is that cool?
Oh, it plays nicely, and then it plays nicely some more. And when you think it’s about time to put it down it slaps you across the chops and says “I DON’T THINK SO, JACK!” and plays nicely some more.
But to address your query about the coolness of the Burke High D, or the DBSBT specifically, it’s more of an internal cool. It’s the cool you get when you know that people would be soiling themselves if they knew what kind of hardware you were packing, but they don’t know, not really, and more’s the pitty for them.
It’s like the other day I was passing a jewelry store that was getting robbed and the robbers were running out of the store. When they saw me and my Viper they stopped and had that look of panic in their eyes, like they knew they were in for it and were out of options and were about to do something desperate. I could have handled them with just the Viper, but there were women and children around and I saw that I needed to minimize the collateral damage, so I pulled the DBSBT out of my back pocket. When the robbers saw this, they just started weeping and fell to their knees. They looked at the bags of loot they had been trying to make off with and at once came to the realization that their lives had been wasted- a continuous succession of meaningless events. Now that’s cool.
In my house, flashing any whistle produces the same results, but I try not to take it personally.
In WhistleLand, a place populated almost entirely by very nice people, Mike Burke shines.

AAHAHA!
Oh man… thanx for that. ![]()
remind to stay clear of Appalachia ![]()
Hey, Appalachia is way cool, and it’s got Vipers, too.
