Q: Eamonn Cotter flutes

Does anyone know how much Eamonn is charging for his 6-key flutes these days and what’s the waiting period? (I guess i could always ask him, but i’ll probably get a quicker answer here!)

I may be selling mine later this year. I haven’t decided yet, but it may not be the best flute for my small chubby hands. :sniffle: It’s a great instrument, with a beautiful, full voice, well suited for Irish music. I’ll be trying another flute in a couple of months, and if that works for me i may have to sell the Cotter to buy it.

Hi Glauber,
talked to him recently. 6-key is 1700 Euros, lead time approx. 9 months.
Best,

Thanks!

1700 Euros! Wow! That’s almost double what he was charging just a few years ago.

Well, there you have it, then!

It’s not too much more than what i paid for mine almost 2 years ago. And it’s still less than what most makers will charge. Mine at least is a very well made flute. My wait was just 6 months, though.

I think it’s to be expected that as he gets more confidence in his craft and more orders, the prices will go up.

I wasn’t saying there was anything wrong with it. It’s just a lo-ho-hot more than they used to be. He was charging about Ir£700 for a fully-keyed one when I got mine (about 5 years ago), which is/was €850. Of course, at the time, it was close to $900.

It’s just interesting, is all.

1700 euro in 9 months? Nice deal for a flute known to be among the best.

Compare that with Grinter 6-key: 2500 euro in 18 months.

Hard to compare only on cost ad leadtime, though.
