Hello all. I’ve got a couple things for sale, and before I Ebay them, I figure I’d give you folks a crack.
The first is a six key Eamonn Cotter flute, pitched in D. It’s a pratten style body, made of blackwood with silver keys and a tuning slide.
The flute is in perfect shape, and is approximately 1.5 years old. I am the original and only owner. It’s a cannon, and a great flute.
I bought it for a roughly 1100 pounds, which right now is about 1750 US dollars. I’m asking 1800 US dollars for it. Eamonn’s prices have gone up
recently, and he has a longer wait. His
flutes don’t come up for sale that often, and there’s a reason for that. Nobody wants to let one go. I’ll be in Ireland from the 19th of August 'till the 31st
of August if that helps anybody
with delivery. Email me for details. If no one responds before Wednesday, it’s going on Ebay. I’m setting the reserve at 1800.00, just so you know.
The other thing is an Overton aluminum Low-D. It’s tunable. I’ve played some of his whistles that I like, but
this one is a bit of a bear
to work with. New, they’re over 200 $. I’m asking, let’s say, 100.
So is anyone else going to the Fleadh in Listowel, or Milwaukee Irish fest?

Hi e:
So why sell the Cotter? Is it possible that you want to get a better flute? Could that be possible? I’ve never played a Cotter, but some people rave about them in the same breath as Olwells.

I just found the private message function on this board and I’ve been around this place for a couple of years at least. I am dense.
Anyway, the Olwell is long gone…but I have two more on the way! ![]()
Well, “on the way” is a relative term now isn’t Greg?
Perhaps you should say “On Order”…

Timing is everything… or nothing!
I would snatch up your Cotter myself but I just talked to Eamonn a little over a month ago and put in an order for my own 6-key D.
Just to bring people up to date and maybe add counterpoints to some of the things I've read:
I phoned Eamonn, not really expecting to catch him in, but he picked up the phone, we chatted away, and I placed my order. (Happy to talk, but orders are only confirmed by post, or fax if he's around to get it.) He's quoting 6 months, and hedging to 9 months.
Hope you find a happy home for your own, e. I'll post reviews when I have mine!
