Hi to all
I hope to be taking posession of a 6 key Olwell by the end of December, and the financial reality means that I cannot afford to keep my Cotter as well.
I have a blackwood Cotter, made in 2004, with Cnat, Bb, G#, and short Fnat keys. It has a one piece centre section. I have the original case. It is a lovely flute which has been used for sessions, gigs, and recordings for 8 years, kept well oiled, rings and keys regularly polished, cling film on the pads when oiling to keep them good. The bore is smooth, the pads fit tightly, the rings are secure. It’s a belter, but I’ve been waiting 7 years for the Olwell (and the extra keys).
In 2007 I had the Fnat key block repaired by Andy May of Edinburgh. It’s a very neat repair. In 2008 I had to get the barrel replaced and the tenon repaired after an accident on the road. That work was done by Eamonn himself. It’s been absolutely fine since then.
The flute is a very good one. The intonation is great across the range, it’s got a good strong tone. Eamonn’s flutes don’t really need the big sales pitch ![]()
I’m just gauging interest at the moment. If anyone wants to ask about it, to see some photos, or hear some sound files, please email me at markmalinky at hotmail dot com
I know what sort of price I’d like to get, but until I formally put it up for sale I’d rather just discuss price with any interested person. I should add that it would be quite expensive to ship out of the UK - I was quoted about £80 to send the whole flute in the case to Eamonn for the repair.
Thanks
