Hello there. Thanks for all the interest, but the Cotter flute is sold.
To answer a few questions;
- why I’m selling it: I already have a great flute that I love to play, and I’m just not playing the Cotter as much. The other flute is a keyed Olwell body with a very old Sam Murray headjoint (one of the first he ever made). The Olwell body is the same used by Larry Nugent to make his first record (there’s a picture of it on the insert of the record). On top of this, my father’s girlfriend did the cover for that record, so that flute is very dear to me, and I’m lucky Larry is letting me use it. Plus if I sold it, Larry is a gent but he’d F’ing kill me, rightly so.
- The real reason: I need the damn money! I’m going to the fleadh this year in Listowel, and if the last Fleadh I attended is any indication, I’m gonna need all the money I can get for booze and obscure recordings. I am hoping to meet a lovely, rich Irish girl (preferably one who’s father owns a pub) who will support me, but my track record isn’t exactly what one would call “startling” in that regard.
I wouldn’t ever say this maker is better than that maker. I’ve played Cotter’s I like better than Olwell’s, Hamilton’s better than this or that, and right now Sam Murray is my favorite maker. If I could order a new flute, it would be from Sam. But I like the flute I have, and one is enough for me. I’ve never really understood why people collect all these flutes.
That being said, does anyone have a 6 key Grinter they’d sell cheap?
Cheers,
e
