preston whistle

I met a friendly guy named Preston in an Irish pub in Cape Cod,Mass. He had a few whistles which he made that were wonderful: great tone, low air requirement, and easy on the hands and mouth. Anyone own one of these beauts?

I’m Intrigued. Does he reside in Massachusetts?

I’m intrigued too - I live in “Row Dialin’” also. I vacation for a week on the Cape each year but haven’t found a pub with good Irish trad music. I’ve tried Liam Maquire’s in Falmouth but the bands are usually folk or some other such thing. So I’d be interested in finding out if you know any.

I have heard of a place called Ward’s Public House in West Warwick that’s supposed to have sessions on Sunday night that I hope to check out sometime.

The guy was maybe 70 years old, a little hard of hearing. He told me he lives in the area. The pub holds a session on Sunday evenings. It was a great session, with singing, and an appreciative crowd. Here’s what I found on google:

Olde Inn At West Dennis
348 Main Street
Dennis, MA 02670

I couldn’t get through on that URL… I did find this though:

Try this for Cape Cod info:

Rhode Island:
The session at Ward’s is on Post Road in Warwick, on the left side, on the way to E. Greenwich. There’s a harp on the sign. It’s technically an open session, but the owner controls the amount of chairs because he says he wants to limit the size. Then of course there is Patrick’s Pub, Smith St., Providence on Tuesday night. An open session for all levels, starts around 8:15.
