This post may be a little out of place, but there may be some readers who will be as excited about this tour as I am.
Spider Stacy of The Pogues was the man who first inspired me to take up playing the tin whistle… and I know I’m not the only one he inspired.
I will not be able to attend any of the shows because they are all going to be in England, Scotland and Ireland, but I am hopeful that there will be future tours and maybe some new studio work if all goes well with this tour.
I’m still reeling in shock that the legendary Shane MacGowan himself will be on lead vocals once again… this is just too good to be true!
Here’s the information from The Pogues official website:
The Pogues are reforming for a short tour of Ireland, Scotland & England in late December. The lineup will be from what is often considered the band’s peak, the lineup that made the well known albums If I Should Fall From Grace With God, Peace & Love, and Hell’s Ditch. This will be: Shane MacGowan - vocals, guitar; Jem Finer - hurdy-gurdy, vocals, banjo, saxophone, guitar; Darryl Hunt - percussion, bass, vocals; Philip Chevron - guitar, vocals; Terry Woods - mandolin, vocals; Spider Stacey - tin whistle, vocals; Andrew Rankin - drums, vocals; James Fearnley - accordion, vocals.
