Between playing my Hamilton–if the government ever finds out how much pure fun you can have playing a Hamilton flute, they’ll outlaw it–and grabbing quick tunes on my polymers when I just don’t have time to deal with wood–I don’t play my old 8-key as much as I should.
I broke that flute out today and played the hell out of it for a while.
I can’t define “it,” but I am coming to understand just how lucky I was to happenstance across that flute. “It” is whatever a flute has that lets you play the hell out of it and it takes it and just asks for more.
That flute has “it.”
It’s just plain fun to play.
Here’s something I recorded on it a few years ago:

I think I’m going to work on playing this old beastie more often.
