Description - Half set of Uilleann pipes made by Adrian Jefferies. These are an older set of Adrian’s, made in brass, ebony and with boxwood mounts. The chanter has an F natural key AND blocks for all other keys. The reed is good and made by me. It has played well through all seasons for about 4 years now. The set comes with a glass fibre case.
Condition - These are in generally good condition. The bag is good, and bellows fine. There are minor imperfections as expected, simply due to normal wear & tear over the years, but nothing to be concerned over. The baritone drone has 2 cracks in one section, which does NOT affect drone playing. I have filled them with ordinary timber filler, which can easily be removed. Even without the filling however, the cracks don’t affect playability at all (ask me why if you like), and they are barely noticeable. Actually, they look very nice…I like boxwood opposed to fake ivory. This set looks antique & I have left them tarnished because I prefer it to being a high polish, which is easily attainable with brasso and very fine sandpaper if you are more pedantic. I am happy to do this if you want.
The set is perfectly playable as is, and I play them as such regularly. Adrian (the maker) can be contacted at http://www.irishpipes.net/
if you have any questions regarding my being genuine. He knows me & will atest to my owning the set & it being a genuine sale etc.
Reason for sale - I have a new set about to arrive from Andreas Rogge.
Asking price - AUS$1800 ONO, which with exchange rates as they currently are, is very cheap for an overseas buyer! You pay postage too by the way.
I have looked in this site for somewhere to post some photos, but no luck. If you want to look at them then send me your email address. I will post them on Ebay soon too, with photos.
