A friend of mine and I were mulling over the idea of producing our own little sci-fi type movie, but we’ve no idea how we’d pull off special effects, green/blue screen, etc on a nearly nonexistant budget.
Does there exist a relatively inexpensive (by inexpensive, I mean in the realm of under $300) video editing program that allows for digital rotoscoping and blue screening? (right now, we need one for PC, cause my mac is rather outdated, but my buddie’s PC is slick as owl schizat)
I was looking at Adobe Premiere, but I’ve no experience with it yet.

I went through this a while ago, but haven’t had the time/funds to pursue. Basically, you are looking at pro packages when you are considering Adobe Premiere Pro or Sony Vegas 7, and can expect to pay several hundred bucks. I was looking at Sony Vegas Movie Pro+DVD for about $100. I don’t know if they include chromakey editing, which is what you are looking for (blue screen/green screen).

I hadn’t heard of the Sony program yet, I’ll look into it. Thanks dave ![]()
GaryKelly is the video editting whiz on the forum. He helped me understand what it was I needed and what was available.

We do expect to be included on the preview guest list. ![]()
FOr sure!
it might not be anytime soon, as we only have one day a week to work on ideas, and we’re not even to the writing phase yet.
One of our ideas is to utilize a universe that’s already been established but with which fan produced films are permitted (and in some cases even encouraged, as is the case with Star Trek. We have put serious thought into doing a Trek series or film set in the Kirk era, as the budget constraints would be lighter
