Perfect B set

Hi.
I have just recieved a B 3/4 set from Andreas Rogge in ebony, box and brass. The workmanship is stunning with great detail and lovely grain on the regs. My wife has tuned a fiddle down to B so we had our first real trial last night. To say the sound was sublime would be an understatement. The combination of near perfect pitch (my fault not the pipes) and tonal quality with a deep buzz from the drones left us grinning like the proverbial cheshire cat. We could actually feel the music as well as hear it.
I couldnt believe a set of pipes could be so easy to play but I guess the flat set air requirement is much less than a D set so it is just much less effort. I also got a plumbwood D chanter at the same time and again the accuracy of the tuning was amazing with a lovely mellow but strong tone. I love my original chanter so I now have tonal and volume options with my d half set. I dont think piping life can get much better than this.

Lucky you!!! How 'bout some picts and a sound clip?

Hi Reedmasters
I have never tried either pictures or sound clips but I will give it a try.
I do feel very privilaged to have the set. Rebecca bought them for me when her Mother died so it is both a great joy and a good memory of her mum.

Now to truly thank her properly, you need to get her one of these some day …

OK, seriously – my beloved recently got himself a Hardingfele and although we are only playing in concert pitch, the drones and resonances of the fiddle and my pipes are just amazing – balm for the weary soul. Mick and Caiomhinh so found the perfect combination between a B set and the hardanger fiddle.

Meanwhile, enjoy! I’m so happy for you both.

Good for you mate, congrats and all the best…happy, joyous piping and peace!!! cheers

Look forward to hearing and seeing your set at the tionól !!!

B all the way !!!
