It’s a long shot, but I have seen a couple posts (from a while back) from people in Pensacola. Having recently taken up the whistle and even more recently moved back here, I’d like to try to connect with some locals who play. So, uh, if you’re in Pensacola (or anywhere in the Florida Panhandle region, I suppose.. I’ll even take people around the Mobile area… anywhere w/in reasonable driving distance), drop me a PM or reply to this post. It’d be nice to meet other whistlers and whatnot.
If anyone should stumble across this thread in the future and longs for some form of traditional music in the Pensacola area, I have made contact with the McGuire’s Irish Pub bagpipe band and shall be learning the pipes from their head piper. I’d be happy to pass along contact info if desired. I’ll still be learning the whistle on my own, too, and I’d very much like to see about getting some local sessions started, so feel free to e-mail me, PM me, or reply to this thread.
