Regretably I must sell my 4 month old practice set by Patrick Murray. They have only been played a dozen times or so and handled with kit gloves. The reed is unaltered besides moving the bridle a bit. Here is a link to the auction:
Patrick Murray was making synthetic chanters with cane reeds. For personal reasons he halted production. These chanters are from a model of a wooden chanter as close to playing a wooden chanter as you can get (when compared to David Daye’s practice chanter) at a price slightly higher than the practice chanter. Patrick’s website is here: http://www.thepiperscut.com/
Maybe because the seller made the opening bid the same
price as the set sold for when it was brand new. People
like to think they are getting a bargain not paying more for
something than they could get it for new.
The Pipers Cut site says the pipes may go
back into production this summer.
First off, IMHO Patricks pipes are undervalued to begin with when compared to any other good practice set. They should be selling for around $700.
Second, Patrick has a waiting list that is now growing as he is not currently producing. He may or he may not go back into production this summer. Can you wait a year or so while he gets through his waiting list?
Third, I am including the Mad for Trad tutorial CD ROM which is a $40 value.
Fourth, I need to recover the cost for personal reasons and still feel the price is a fair value.
