Pask "Ribas's improved" on eBay

http://search.ebay.com/7375356451

Not sure about this, but it looks a lot like this one on Terry’s website.

Good looking flute, that’s for sure.

That flute is “loverly”-looking! Wonder how it sounds? Is it cocus?

I’m estimating 253+/-2mm for the C# to Eb distance from the pictures, so it’s not high pitch.

how do you know it’s Ribas Improved?
the ebay description says nothing of this

Who is Pask?

Short form for Paskisstani ???

Actually, I just think it looks like the one on Terry’s website… The keys are special, that’s all. And I don’t know a lot about those flutes, just found the design interesting…

See Terry Mcgee: http://www.mcgee-flutes.com/Pask.htm

It certainly looks like a beautiful instrument.

Anybody have an idea what these sound like?

tread softly, check the feedback, and check the comments on the feedback,

Here’s the Pask flute at the Dayton museum, now that is a cool flute. he felt that it might have been made for royalty, with the engraved keys. IT also has a Mother of Pearl ferrel on the embouchure hole.

According to Terrys’s bore study, maybe a bit like a Pratten: big bore / big holes. (Any comment, Terry?)

Oops that’s right. I didn’t check this. I was just interested by the instrument.

Jeepers. That’s a pretty instrument.

BEWARE

I learned this morning that this is a fraudulent sale.
I am friends with the owner of this flute…and it is NOT the eBay seller.
In fact, this flute sold on eBay about a month ago (when my friend bought it).
Check eBay # 7345340541 which was the original sale.

My friend called me this morning to warn me.

This is a FAKE sale.

Wow, the pictures are even better. Really nice flute.

David did you report the fraudulent sale to eBay ?

i believe my friend has.

these eBay scams are pretty incredible. I’m surprised this one moved so quickly. Typically they wait a month or two, when the original sale info/photos are removed from the eBay archive.

I have a Rudall/Carte Eb flute that a scammer tried 5 times over a year to try and “sell”

For those of you unfamiliar with the technique, they typically download the photos and the details of the flute (usually ones that sell high, such as this Pask did…although I thought the price a tad too much for it)…then repost it later as their own sale, usually under a new name…and stick withthe name until someone bites, sends lots of money for something they don’t have and move on.

It’s pretty sick, actually.

Thankfully I’ve not been clipped as yet, but have heard of some who have been.

anyway…
be careful out there!

Well, I’d just like to know what one is supposed to do!
I’ve not bought anything from ebay in quite some time now, (actually a few years), but I used to!

I’d like to think people are better than that!

My mistake, I guess.

Anyway, that’s a lovely looking flute. Your friend must be very happy with it.

and by the way, it’s still listed…

If your friend is sure that’s true, he needs to report it to eBay immediately… before someone gets taken. Glad you found that out!

It is a beauty… so… how does it play??

he’s more a collector than a player…
and I was supposed to give a blow when I visited earlier this month, but never did make it over to him.

He said it plays pretty well.

Remember…beauty ain’t everything in a flute!
I wouldn’t doubt a few garbage flutes from way back were adorned more than most so that people were taken more by its beauty than its sound!

I had a Metzler once that looked like this flute (sort of…but it was beautiful) and it played pretty well.

Inlaid tone holes are great…but the TARNISH! You’re constantly cleaning.
