Pandora: Free Internet Radio

As a result of the Music Genome Project, Pandora.com is offering a free internet service where the listener is able to design the mix of stations that they want to hear. The service is available in the USA and several other countries. I’m guessing that this type of internet radio is not unique to Pandora, but I thought that I would pass along the link to anyone who may be interested. I would appreciate any thoughts or suggestions that you might have about this music service. I have been enjoying my current mix of self-created stations. It is great when I am working and don’t want to be bothered listening to the spoken commentary between pieces common on commerical radio.

Well, I guess that’s one box I won’t be opening.

If you’re in the UK last.fm offers a similar(ish) service and is quite excellent. Perhaps it’s available for others, I’m not sure.

I’ve used Pandora for about a year now. It’s a great service. For Americans. (Sorry.)

This is great, I can believe I haven’t heard of this before.

Through a bit of inelegant hacking I was able to stream it to my Roku</a](http://www.rokulabs.com/products_soundbridge.php">Roku</a)> and listen to it through my stereo downstairs.

I’ve also used it for about a year in the UK. I discovered that a small fib opens doors… Whenever anything asks me for a US postal code I always use 90210… It’s the only one I know.

A very good service.

Same here. Fabbo.

Seems Pandora will be blocking UK IP addresses from next week:

That is fecking tragic. I cannot find words to express…

Well, the Pandora people have done a fine job. Not their fault if some grasping bastards would rather take nothing than a modest payment.

Such a shame.

I’ll have to see if I can find a workaround through a US proxy…

There’s always two sides to a story:
