Pandora.com rocks, trads, or whatever you want...

Everyone else may already know about this net station, but Pandora.com is amazing. You type in a group you like, and it creates a “station” with similar music. I entered the Chieftains, and I’ve now heard Tommy Makem and Danu…can’t wait to hear what pops us next.

Now I’ve got to try They Might Be Giants and also The Proclaimers to see what these stations play.

Just thought I’d share.

…but don’t bother if you are outside The Land of the Free.

Freedom only exists inside.

I started a topic on Pandora about a year ago. I listen to the station while I work, usally symphonic music from the classical era. I do have an old time string band station for variety.

I love pandora but i have to say I’m a little partial to Last.fm at the moment

Evidently, Pandora’s future is in question. I think it has to do with an inability, to date, to negotiate appropriate royalty fees.

I notice the newest version of iTunes contains
a feature called Genius which strives to tell you
other things you might like to hear. So I guess
they’re trying to position themselves as the
legit Pandora…
I haven’t tried it, because I very oddly avoid
letting people spy on my listening habits.

Genius on Itunes works alright, but if you want to listen to any of their suggestions, you have to buy the downloads. Plus, it doesn’t work for a fair amount of music on my computer. Give it a group like Off Kilter and it just doesn’t know what to do! I guess I’ll have to dive into Pandora now that my Chumby supports it.
