Our Honor is Challenged

Can we let this go by unanswered?

That moving navigation bar on the left keeps throwing off my equilibrium! I’d check it out, but I keep falling out of my chair!

I’m just kidding about falling out of my chair, but it does make me a little dizzy!

K

Goll yes, it’s really disorientating!

I just choked on my Rich Tea Biscuit!

Hey, guys, someone spent a whole lot of time coding that little feature

Just goes to show that just because you CAN do something, it doesn’t mean you SHOULD.

I thought the moving bar was kinda neat.

And what’s this about honor? They’re not obligated to talk about whistles, are they? I don’t get it.

I think Scott wants a database of movies/tv that whistles appear in. I think it would be a wonderful idea if someone else did it!

As far as the navigation bar on the left of the screen goes…well, it’s spiffy and functional, but of the few people that viewed it from C&F it looks like about 50% of them got seasick, which costs serious points on user friendliness

I don’t get it either.

And I thought the navbar following my down-scrolls was very clever. I like it! From all you guys ranting about it, I was expecting something much worse - I had built up a whole picture in my mind of some flashy LasVegasoid neon sign rattling back and forth or jumping up and down to get my attention.

I think a simple pair of frames would perform the same function without that funny bounce it seems to have–it’s not the positioning but the bobbing that gets to me.

But hey, it works, which gives it points.

This is so typical of C&F. Here I point out a very serious deficiency in the universe: no database of movies featuring tinwhistles and we end up with a discussion of javascript navigation bars!

Scott

Isn’t it great!

Well, dragging the post off-topic is a whole lot easier than collecting and putting up a big, database-driven web site.

So, you want ColdFusion or ASP? In all honesty, they don’t let me do either here at work, mostly text formatting and database entry.

Not that I wouldn’t love to visit the site when someone builds it. Maybe Dale can subcontract out to one of us (meaning YOU)

Right you are Scott! So typical!!

Ya know, I grew up with a guy named Scott Williams . . .

Vinny

Chill out, Scott. It’s just another movie site after all. And one that hasn’t been upgraded in 21 months at that.

Surely an active community of thousands of whistlers trumps just another list of movies.

so true, but then I find whistlers are a special kind of people anyway

Ooo, I wanted to add this:

Q: How many C&F message board posters does it take to change a
light bulb?

A: 1,331:

1 to change the light bulb and to post to the message board that the light
bulb has been changed

14 to share similar experiences of changing light bulbs and how the
light bulb could have been changed differently.

7 to caution about the dangers of changing light bulbs.

27 to point out spelling/grammar errors in posts about changing light
bulbs.

53 to flame the spell checkers

156 to write to the poster complaining about the light bulb
discussion and its inappropriateness to the message board.

41 to correct spelling in the spelling/grammar flames.

109 to post that this list is not about light bulbs and to please take
this thread to alt.lite.bulb

203 to demand that cross posting to alt.grammar, alt.spelling and
alt.punctuation about changing light bulbs be stopped.

111 to defend the posting to this list saying that we are all use light
bulbs and therefore the posts are relevant to this message board.

306 to debate which method of changing light bulbs is superior, where
to
buy the best light bulbs, what brand of light bulbs work best for this
technique, and what brands are faulty (and how those can be “tweaked”.

27 to post URLs where one can see examples of different light bulbs

14 to post that the URLs were posted incorrectly, and to post corrected
URLs.

3 to post about links they found from the URLs that are relevant to
this
list which makes light bulbs relevant to this list.

33 to concatenate all posts to date, then quote them including all
headers and footers, and then add “Me Too.”

12 to post to the list that they are unsubscribing because they cannot
handle the light bulb controversy.

19 to quote the “Me Too’s” to say, “Me Three.”

4 to suggest that posters request the light bulb FAQ.

1 to propose new alt.change.lite.bulb newsgroup.

47 to say this is just what alt.physic.cold_fusion was meant for, leave
it here.

143 votes for alt.lite.bulb.

Ahaha, nice editing job, Jeff!

I saw the original, several years ago, somewhere on Usenet.

Couldn’t we do a sort of ecumenical, bringing-us-together sort of page instead of a competitive one? Like a list of all the movies in which the Bagwhistle appears.

That would be a lot less work, anyway.

Wait a minute now
